Here are some Save the Date's I did for my friend's wedding. It's so much fun designing invitations, and I love that this one was so different from what you typically see for weddings.

This design I did for The Podcast Eating Contest logo for itunes. I sketched it on the corner of my moleskin journal. Sometimes sketches end up in weird places...on post-its, napkins, take-out menus. I always try to keep them in one book, but it rarely ever happens. When inspiration strikes, just grab what's nearby and start sketching.

Here is a "Sketch to..." of some cute gift tags I made for my cousin-in-law's upcoming baby shower. The giraffe is an inside joke, plus it is an adorable animal, so it worked all around. We also don't know the sex of the baby yet, so I went with purple and green for the colors.

You'll notice that this sketch is different than the final artwork. Once I drew out the giraffes, I had to make some changes to their position and to the arc, so it would look better on the circle tag.

This is the sketch and final product of my online portfolio website mariatorti.com. I went through a few ideas of how it would look, but I knew I wanted to base it around the four colors I used in my identity and business cards for mtdesigns.

I kept it all pretty simple, so I could upload it quickly, and designed this blog to go with the same theme. I would like to re-design it all eventually, but probably not until next year.

This sketch and design I created for my writer friend's blog Twenty Somethings. Her blog is a raw and honest look at the messiness of life through writing. I played with a couple ideas, but ended up going with a background of a messy desk with tea and lots of crumpled paper. I shot all the images myself to make this design more personal and unique for my friend.

Before I start any project, I always sketch my ideas out in my many sketchbooks. I wanted to create a weekly post every Sunday with a new example of my sketch to final product.

This week is of a T-shirt I designed a few years back for my friends' band Tuesday Night Squabble. Because there are so many different musicians that perform with Tuesday Night Squabble, I wanted to capture them all in a group shot. I wanted to turn each musician into a cartoon to make it more unique than just a group photo.
